Astros Slugger Carted Off Field After Nasty Collision

An ugly collision in the Houston Astros game today left hulking slugger Yordan Alvarez laid out flat on the ground, before he was carted off the field.

The left fielder Alvarez collided with shortstop Jeremy Pena in short left field chasing a pop up during the Astros game today with the New York Mets. Both players called for the ball, and Pena caught it, but it was a thunderous collision. It appeared that Alvarez was caught with a forearm or an elbow to the head.

Pena was able to leave the field under his own strength, surprising after running into the 6'5", 225-pound Alvarez. He didn't return to the game however.

If Alvarez is forced to miss any time, it will be a big loss for the Astros.

The DH/OF is hitting an insane .434 with an even more incredulous 1.390 OPS in the month of June, with 9 HR and 28 RBIs.
