A's Place Closer On IL Amongst Six Roster Moves

The Oakland A's have executed a major reshuffling of the roster. First and foremost, the unfortunate loss of closer Dany Jimenez to the injured list with a shoulder strain.

Jimenez has come out of nowhere to register 11 saves with a 4.38 ERA, after signing a minor league contract with Oakland in the offseason.

To make matters worse for the bullpen, they've also had to place another of their most effective relievers, Sam Moll on the Covid IL. Moll has a 1.27 ERA and 12.2 K/9 as an important lefty out of the 'pen.

Infielder Matt Davidson, who had a couple of 20+ HR seasons in the majors a few years back, has been designated for assignment. He only got into 8 games with the A's this season. He's been absolutely crushing it in Triple-A this year, however, with 15 homers and a 1.099 OPS in 32 games. It's quite possible some other team could give him a shot.

Sheldon Neuse and Nick Allen head back up to the A's for some infield depth, while Kirby Snead makes his way back into the Oakland bullpen.
