Twins Call Up Top 3 Prospect

The reigning Minor League Player of the Year for the Minnesota Twins is getting his first look at the big leagues, as the Twins have called up infielder Jose Miranda. With very good contact skills, and a power breakout last season in the minors, Miranda could be ready to have an impact.

In 2021, Miranda obliterated International League pitching, hitting .344 with a .973 OPS, along with 30 HR and 94 RBIs. This season, in his last 13 games at Triple-A, Miranda has hit .300 with a HR and 8 doubles, and has struck out only three times.

MLB.com's prospect rankings said about the 24-year-old that "his plus bat-to-ball skills allowed him to drive the ball much more frequently (in 2021), to finish with 30 or more doubles and homers for the season. The power came without a sacrifice in terms of strikeouts as he whiffed in just 12.5 percent of his plate appearances."

Although Miranda has played mostly 3B and 2B, the Twins have a dire need at first base right now, with Miguel Sano just placed on the injured list
