Rays Pitcher Clears Waivers

After being designated for assignment, Javy Guerra was placed on waivers by the Tampa Bay Rays. He has since cleared them and will now Triple-A Durham.

Guerra pitched in six games for the Rays this season, where he allowed five earned runs in 5.1 innings pitched. Throughout his career, he has put up very similar totals, as he has a 1-0 record and 8.45 ERA in 33 career games between the Padres and Rays.

Although it is never a good feeling to be demoted, this is a grand opportunity for Guerra to develop with less pressure on him. If he performs well with Durham, there's reason to believe that he could get another chance with Tampa before the season is out. Time will tell if that comes to fruition, of course.
