Pirates Pitcher Designated For Assignment

The Pittsburgh Pirates are continuing to make roster moves, as they now have designated Sam Howard for assignment.

Howard has spent each of the last seasons with the Pirates. In three appearances for the major league squad this season, he allowed two earned runs in two innings pitched. He notably had some control trouble, as he walked four batters, too.

With this move, Howard will now either be placed on waivers or traded by the Pirates. Perhaps teams in need of some pitching depth could take a chance on him. In 103 career games between the Rockies and Pirates, he has a 7-7 record to go along with a 5.34 ERA.
