MLB Rumors: Rangers To Trade Pitcher

Even after a big offseason of spending, the Texas Rangers will likely be watching the postseason from their couches this year. At this point of the year, they have a 13-18 record and already have a ton of catching up to do to have any chance of playing this fall. As a result of this, they will likely be sellers again in 2022, and one pitcher who could be on the move is Martin Perez.

To be blunt, Perez isn't a star. However, even with this being so, he has shown in the past that he can be a decent bottom-of-the-rotation kind of pitcher. Furthermore, he has started this season off in a very good fashion, as he sports a 1-2 record to go along with a 2.10 ERA. If he can continue to pitch this well deeper into the year, it would help raise his trade value.

Perez is a grizzled veteran, and playoff teams love to have those on their roster. In 227 career games between the Rangers, Twins, and Red Sox, he has a 64-71 record and 4.63 ERA.
