MLB Rumors: Pirates Shopping Outfielder

The majority of baseball fans expected the Pittsburgh Pirates to struggle in 2022, and that is exactly what's happening thus far. At this juncture, they sport a 13-18 record and aren't showing signs of bouncing back. As a result of this, they should once again be sellers at the trade deadline, and one player who will be a prime rental candidate is Ben Gamel.

Gamel is currently signed to an affordable $1.8 million deal for the remainder of the year. The 29-year-old outfielder is helping raise his trade value due to his solid play, too. In 31 games, he has two home runs, 14 RBIs, and a .299 batting average. If he keeps this play up, he could be a good addition for a playoff team this summer.

It will be intriguing to see what kind of market Gamel gets once made available, but his solid play and cheap salary certainly make him appealing.
