MLB Rumors: Marlins Shopping First Baseman

The Miami Marlins have won only two out of their last 10 games and now sport a 14-17 record. Unless they turn things around immediately, this is a club that will be sellers this deadline season. Jesus Aguilar could be one of the many players who get traded by Miami as a result of this.

Aguilar signed a one-year, $7.5 million contract to return to Miami for the 2022 season. After recording a 22-home run campaign last season, Aguilar has seen his power numbers drop off, as he has just three on the season. However, he still has a respectable .267 batting average and 14, so interest around the league should still be there.

If Aguilar can find his previous form and be a bigger power threat, that definitely could help the veteran first baseman get a bigger market. Yet, that also could spark the Marlins to exercise their half of the mutual option for the 2023 season, so this is something to watch very closely.
