Braves Designate Pitcher For Assignment

The Atlanta Braves have designated Tyler Thornburg for assignment.

After missing the entirety of the 2021 season due to Tommy John surgery, Thornburg landed himself a one-year deal with the Braves this offseason. Yet, the Braves have now had a change of heart and have removed the veteran from their 40-man roster.

Although Thornburg missed a year of action, he did fairly well with the Braves this season. In nine games, he had a 3.86 ERA. With him also being a 201-game veteran, it seems possible that another club could elect to claim him off waivers or acquire him via trade. Alas, let's see what happens from here with him.
