Video: "Dirty As F**k" Slide Demolishes Reds Catcher

The Cincinnati Reds and San Diego Padres have a problem. Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson is in concussion protocol after being bowled over and taken down by the Padres' very large DH Luke Voit. And Stephenson's teammates are not happy about it.

"The way his hands hit him, it was dirty as f**k."

Those were the words of Reds outfielder Tommy Pham (a former Padre). Voit seems to slam Stephenson's head down with his arms and hands as he collided with him.

"If Luke wants to settle it, I get down really well," said Pham. "Anything — muay thai, whatever. Like I said, I’ve got an owner here who will let me use his (boxing) facility. So f**k ’em.”

"Not too often you see a runner slide and grab someone's head and slam it to the ground like that," fumed Reds shortstop Kyle Farmer. "You're usually trying to reach for the bag. Maybe that's what he was trying to do. After looking at the replay, it looked like a wrestling move to Tyler's head and snapped it down."

Whether Voit actually tried to avoid the collision is up for debate as well, however the Reds lost a video challenge. For his part, Voit said he "wasn't trying to make it dirty."

"I wasn't trying to take (Stephenson) out or anything. I guess my elbow kind of just got him a little bit, but I hope he's all right," Voit said.

Stephenson is now on the 7-day concussion injured list, and it remains to be seen when he'll be able to return.
