Reds Outfielder Designated For Assignment

The Cincinnati Reds are continuing to make changes to their roster, as they now have designated Aristides Aquino for assignment.

Aquino has been off to a very poor start in 2022, so perhaps this is something that fans could have seen coming. In 41 at-bats on the year, he has just three hits to go along with two walks. With this, he sports a disastrous .049 batting average. Thus, at the end of the day, one can understand why the Reds are making this move.

Aquino could be a player who other clubs considering claiming for depth, however. He has made appearances at the major league level in each of the last five seasons. In 179 career games with the Reds, he has 32 home runs, 80 RBIs, and a .205 batting average. Perhaps some teams looking for some power in their lineup could consider adding him, but time will tell on that front.
