Red Sox Designate Infielder For Assignment

The Boston Red Sox are set to designate Travis Shaw for assignment, according to Chris Cotillo.

This isn't the most surprising of developments. Shaw has had an extremely hard start to the 2022 campaign. In 19 plate appearances, he has yet to get a hit or even on base. With that, he has struck out seven times. With the Red Sox also sporting a poor 8-12 record, it makes sense that they are now switching things up.

Shaw has a pretty decent chunk of major league experience, so another club could elect to claim him off waivers. In 733 career games between the Red Sox, Milwaukee Brewers, and Toronto Blue Jays, he has 114 home runs, 366 RBIs, and a .237 batting average. Let's see if he finds a new home shortly from here.
