Rays Designate Reliever For Assignment

To make room for Phoenix Sanders to join their major league roster, the Tampa Bay Rays have designated Dusten Knight for assignment.

Knight appeared in one game for the Rays this season, where he allowed one run in 2.1 innings pitched. Although he didn't struggle too heavily, Tampa Bay has decided that Sanders would be more beneficial to have on the roster than him. Now, we will have to wait and see if Knight gets claimed off waivers from another club.

Knight began his major league career last season with the Baltimore Orioles. In seven games with the team, he allowed nine earned runs in 8.2 innings pitched. Needless to say, if he is given the chance to pitch in the majors elsewhere this season, he will be aiming to perform far better this time around.

Alas, it will be intriguing to see if Knight has a new home by the end of the week.
