Orioles Designate Outfielder For Assignment

The Baltimore Orioles have designated DJ Stewart for assignment.

This news comes one week after the Orioles demoted him to Triple-A. Now, they are officially content with moving on from him entirely. It will be intriguing to see if another club decides to claim him off waivers from here.

Stewart has played each of the last five seasons with the Orioles. In 195 total games with the club, he had 26 home runs, 73 RBIs, and a .213 batting average. Overall, he had some flashes of power but struggled to hit for contact. He will be aiming to change that with a different team from here.

In response to this move, the Orioles have called up pitcher Chris Ellis.
