Mariners Infielder Designated For Assignment

After acquiring Stuart Fairchild from the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Seattle Mariners needed to open up a spot on their 40-man roster for him. To do this, they have designated Kevin Padlo for assignment.

Padlo is an infielder who hasn't seen too much time at the major league level. He had his first taste of the majors last season but did not have the most success. In 10 games between the Tampa Bay Rays and Seattle Mariners, he had one hit in 13 at-bats. With this, he had a very low .077 batting average.

Padlo has shown in the minors that he has the potential to be a solid power hitter. As a result of this, other clubs could take a look at him. If not, he will likely continue to play for the Mariners' Triple-A affiliate, the Tacoma Rainiers.
