Los Angeles Angels Sign Outfielder

The Los Angeles Angels are adding to their outfield depth, as they have signed Monte Harrison to a minor league contract.

Harrison was released by the Miami Marlins in March. Yet, the 26-year-old will now have the opportunity to try to carve out a major league career as a member of the Angels.

Harrison appeared in only nine games with the Marlins last season, where he had two hits and a .200 batting average. Overall, the sample size at the major league level has been far too small to judge him, as he only has played 41 career games. In them, he has one home run, three RBIs, and a .175 batting average.

With the Angels recently releasing Justin Upton, it certainly isn't a bad thing that they have added Harrison for insurance. Although it seems more likely than not that he will start the year in Triple-A, he does offer them another outfielder for when injuries occur.

Nevertheless, it will be intriguing to see just how much the Angels utilize him from here.
