Arizona Diamondbacks Sign Pitcher

The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed Ryan Meisinger to a minor league contract.

Meisinger will be aiming to make Arizona's major league roster, but at this juncture, it seems more likely that he will start the year in the minors. This is due to the fact that Opening Day is only a few days away. However, if he impresses in the minors, he very well could end up receiving a call-up during the season.

Meisinger appeared in seven games with the Chicago Cubs last season. During them, it's fair to say he struggled, as he sported a 12.27 ERA. However, the new year offers a clean slate, and that certainly is positive news for the 27-year-old reliever.

In 27 career games between the Baltimore Orioles, St. Louis Cardinals, and Cubs, Meisinger has a 2-1 record and 7.26 ERA. It's fair to state that he has had trouble in the majors over his short career, but he certainly has time to change. Perhaps he will do just that with Arizona.

Nevertheless, the Diamondbacks have added more depth to their roster with this signing.
