Twins Sign Two-Time All-Star

The Minnesota Twins have signed Chris Archer to a one-year, $3.5 million contract. With that, he also has a $10 million mutual option for the 2023 campaign.

Archer appeared in just six games during his reunion with the Tampa Bay Rays last season. In them, he had a 1-1 record and 4.66 ERA. The season was just far too short for the 33-year-old, as he dealt with serious injury trouble. It was unfortunate because he also did not pitch at all in 2020, either.

Even with all of this, it isn't hard to understand why the Twins are taking a chance on Archer. He is a two-time All-Star who will provide them with another potential option in their rotation. Furthermore, Minnesota has made it clear that they are looking to get back into the postseason this year with their big offseason.

In 218 games between the Rays and Pittsburgh Pirates, Archer has a 61-81 record and 3.87 ERA. Here's to hoping he can stay healthy this year and have an excellent campaign with the Twins.
