Padres And Phillies Complete Trade

The San Diego Padres have traded James Norwood to the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for Kervin Pichardo and cash.

With this move, the Phillies have added a player who seems to be ready to become a full-time MLB reliever. In five appearances last season with San Diego, he pitched five scoreless and added three strikeouts for good measure. Yet, he has had trouble during Spring Training this year, as he has a 9.00 ERA in two appearances.

In 28 career games over four seasons between the Chicago Cubs and Padres, Norwood sports a 0-2 record and 3.67 ERA. It will be interesting to see if he is able to secure himself a permanent spot in Philadelphia's bullpen from here.

Pichardo, on the other hand, in a shortstop who is just getting his career started. In 74 games in the minors last season, the 20-year-old shortstop had two home runs, 16 RBIs, and a .247 batting average.
