Atlanta Braves Sign 2 Pitchers

The Atlanta Braves have signed R.J. Alaniz and Brandon Brennan to minor league contracts.

Both Alaniz and Brennan spent some time in the majors last season, but it was very short. In three appearances with the Cincinnati Reds, the former had a 0-0 record and 3.38 ERA. The latter, on the other hand, pitched in one inning for the Boston Red Sox and did allow a run.

In 15 career games between the Seattle Mariners and Reds, Alaniz has a 1-0 record, 8.35 ERA, and 16 strikeouts. Brennan has more experience than Alaniz, however, as he sports a 3-6 record and 4.21 ERA in 50 career games between the Mariners and Red Sox.

It will be interesting to see if either of these players are able to land themselves a job on Atlanta's major league roster this season. If not, they will provide them with more pitching depth.
