Andrew Miller Calls It A Career

Longtime MLB pitcher Andrew Miller has officially announced his retirement. This news comes immediately after he was a major part of the players' union during the lockout earlier this offseason.

Miller spent the 2021 season as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals. In 40 appearances, he had a 0-0 record, 4.75 ERA, and 40 strikeouts. Overall, it was a down year for him compared to his other seasons, but he likely could have landed himself another job this campaign. Yet, he has opted to call it a career and had himself a memorable one.

In 612 appearances between the Detroit Tigers, Florida Marlins, Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees, Cleveland, and Cardinals, Miller had a 55-55 record and 4.03 ERA. He found excellent success after he switched from being a starter to a reliever. With this career-changing move, he was named AL Reliever of the Year in 2015, ALCS MVP in 2016, and went on to appear in two All-Star Games. With that, he also won a World Series ring with the Red Sox in 2013.

Overall, he had himself a very impressive career. Enjoy your retirement, Andrew!
