MLB Rumors: Blue Jays Preparing Huge Offer for Freddie Freeman

The Toronto Blue Jays have been all over the map with their free-agent interest this offseason and one name that keeps popping up is Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman. Sounds like the Blue Jays are getting ready to open up the back of a Brinks truck with their next offer.

It's going to take an absolute massive offer from any team to get Freeman to leave the Braves after becoming a franchise legend by winning a World Series in 2021. Some close to Freddie and around baseball see the Blue Jays as the only team in the league that has any chance of convincing the veteran to leave.

In 2021, the dual citizen hit .300 with 31 HR and 83 RBI. Freeman also scored 120 times and finished the year with 180 hits in 159 games.

The Blue Jays already have Vladimir Guerrero Jr at first base but they also are comfortable DH'ing him and will give him the odd day over at third base. Freeman however is stuck at first base and would also see some time as the designated hitter.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today mentioned this about Freeman recently:

Free agent Freddie Freeman was on the mind of every team seeking a first baseman, with Freeman rejecting Atlanta’s five-year, $135 million offer, and seeking closer to a six-year, $200 million deal.

Perhaps the Blue Jays sneak into the conversation and give Freeman 200-million reasons to head back 'home' to Canada.
