MLB Rumors: Milwaukee Brewers To Add First Baseman

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Milwaukee Brewers previously expressed interest in New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit and could very well pursue him yet again when the lockout is completed. In his piece, he brought up the possibility of a deal involving Lorenzo Cain going to the Bronx in return.

Voit would definitely be an intriguing add for the Brewers, as first base has to be a position that they are looking to improve at. At this juncture, they have Rowdy Tellez manning the position, but they could form a tandem between him Voit. It's never a bad thing to have multiple options, but especially when both hitters are capable of putting up solid power numbers.

In 68 games last season with the Yankees, Voit had 11 home runs, 35 RBIs and a .239 batting average. One could classify that as a down year, but he also just had a career season in 2020. In 56 games during the shortened season, he had a league-leading 22 home runs to go along with 52 RBIs and a respectable .277 batting average. He showed All-Star potential that season, so who's to say he can't do it again?

In 351 career games between the St. Louis Cardinals and Yankees, Voit has 73 home runs, 203 RBIs and a .267 batting average. It will be interesting to see if he adds on to those totals as a member of the Brewers next season. No matter what team he's on next season, it would be awesome to see him hit a plethora of dingers again.
