Atlanta Braves' Freddie Freeman Names His Asking Price

Freddie Freeman is fresh off a World Series title and the first baseman is now looking for his next contract. While the Atlanta Braves are certainly interested, there's a few other teams who are trying to get involved in some legitimate contract talks.

According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, Freeman is looking for a six-year contract worth $180 million. Considering the money that's been tossed around including $500 million on two players by the Texas Rangers, this contract demand seems very reasonable.

Freeman has turned himself into a Braves legend. He's spent his entire 12-year career in Atlanta and has appeared in 1,565 games, hitting 271 HR and 941 RBI. A five-time All-Star, Freeman also has a couple other trophies on the mantle including multiple Silver Sluggers and a Gold Glove. Needless to say whatever the first baseman is looking for, he should be paid.

At 32 years old, this will likely be his last contract so you can't blame Freeman for cashing in. So far it's unclear where the Braves stand with these talks as all contract negotiation has been relatively quiet. While Atlanta seems like the favorite, word is the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays have also expressed interest. Freeman is a Canadian so a trip North would certainly cause quite the circus for the Blue Jays.

For now, the Braves hold the wild card of a shiny new World Series trophy, so it's going to be tough for anyone else to step in and win the Freeman sweepstakes.
