Miami Marlins Sign Outfielder

The Miami Marlins have signed outfielder Avisail Garcia to a four-year, $53 million contract. This is now the biggest contract Miami has given a player since Derek Jeter took over as owner.

Garcia had a very good year at the perfect time, as it's responsible for him landing such a nice contract for himself. In 135 games with the Milwaukee Brewers, he had 29 home runs, 86 RBIs and a .262 batting average. His home run and RBI totals are new career-highs for him, too.

In 53 games the season before with Milwaukee, he had just two home runs, 15 RBIs and a .238 batting average. Thus, it's safe to say he rebounded well this season.

In 951 career games between the Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox, Tampa Bay Rays and Brewers, Garcia has 127 home runs, 475 RBIs and a .270 batting. With that, he also was an All-Star with the White Sox back in 2017.

The Marlins are expected to remain aggressive this offseason, so don't expect Garcia to be their lone signing. Nonetheless, if he can continue to produce at the plate at a similar rate from here, this should be an excellent signing for Miami.
