Current Frontrunner To Sign Seiya Suzuki Revealed

According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Texas Rangers are now viewed as the frontrunners of the Seiya Suzuki sweepstakes.

Suzuki is going to be posted next week by the Hiroshima Carp. With this, he will officially be an MLB free agent. With the CBA expiring on December 1st, he will have about a week to sign a deal with the Rangers or any other franchise of his choosing.

Suzuki is certainly coming into the league with a lot of hype. The power-hitting outfielder put together a marvelous NPB career. In nine seasons with the Carp, he had 189 home runs, 621 RBIs and a .309 batting average. Along with that, he's been a four-time NPB All-Star, five-time NPB Best Nine Award winner and won three Gold Glove Awards. Therefore, he is not only a good hitter, but solid fielder, too.

In 131 games last season with the Carp, he had 38 home runs, 88 RBIs and a .319 batting average.

It will be interesting to see if the Rangers are successful with their efforts to sign Suzuki. If so, Texas could have a new player to build around.
