Huge Update on Shohei Ohtani's Future With LA Angels

After a quote ran shockwaves across the MLB last week, Los Angeles Angels superstar Shohei Ohtani wanted to make one thing clear - he's interested in a contract extension to remain with the team.

According to reports from Jeff Fletcher of Orange County Register, the AL MVP front-runner is very open to staying in LA and is willing to discuss an extension. The team collectively struggled this season, finishing out of the playoff picture once again. Ohtani wants to win and has made this very clear to management. If the team doesn't make any offseason moves and struggles next season, there's a very good chance Ohtani walks.

Angels manager Joe Maddon heard the Ohtani quote from last week and had this to say on the matter:

We all feel the same way, we all want to win. If anybody misconstrues that as though he wants to leave, that's trying to connect some dots that weren't necessarily what he ... not at all what he said

The modern day Babe Ruth is under contract for the 2022 season, making $5.5 million. He then has one season of arbitration and hits the open market in 2024. We'll see if the Angels let that happen.
