Video: Red Sox Hit Two Grand Slams To Set Another Postseason Record

After blowing a 2-run lead in Game 1 of the ALCS vs. the Houston Astros, the Boston Red Sox are taking no chances in Game 2, blasting a grand slam in EACH of the first two innings, for an 8-0 lead. Not surprisingly, that is a new postseason record. In fact, no team has ever hit two grand slams in the same playoff game, regardless of inning.

JD Martinez stepped up with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the 1st inning. He took Astros starter Luis Garcia opposite field, for a grand slam to right. Garcia also struggled badly in his ALDS start, and his ERA in the postseason now sits at 22.09.

The second inning didn't go much better for Garcia, who walked the leadoff batter, then exited the game with an injury. Jake Odorizzi replaced him, and promptly loaded the bases on singles to Christian Arroyo and the red-hot Kike Hernandez, then gave up the record-setting blow to Rafael Devers.

The aforementioned Hernandez has been setting his own postseason records this month, after a 2 HR performance in Game 1. Midway through Game 2, he's merely batting .714 in these playoffs, and simply can't be stopped.

Neither can the Red Sox, it seems, on their way to tying the ALCS at a game apiece.

They bring their 'bomb show' back home to Fenway for Game 3 on Monday.
