3 Potential Destinations for Free-Agent Max Scherzer

Max Scherzer's arm may be tired but he's still going to be one of the biggest names on the free-agent market this winter. Teams will be lining up with a variety of offers for the veteran starter and Scherzer is going to have a few playoff bound teams to pick from.

3 Potential Destinations for Scherzer

Texas Rangers: The Rangers are going to spend a ton of money on pitching this offseason but some question if their lineup is worthy of a look. The team traded slugger Joey Gallo last season and finished the year with a 60-102 record. It's going to take more than just Mad Max to turn things around in Arlington.

San Diego Padres: The Padres tried hard to land Scherzer at the trade deadline and their deep pockets could entice him to jump ship this winter. Even though he turns 38 next season, his 15-4 record in 2021 and his resume speaks for itself. Expect to see Scherzer sign a one-or-two year mega deal and it could certainly come from the Padres.

Toronto Blue Jays: The Blue Jays are an interesting team to watch as President Mark Shapiro admitted the team is in the market to get better and compete for a World Series. Adding Scherzer to an already decent rotation would be a huge step for the Blue Jays. They have some internal business to take care of first with Steven Matz and Robbie Ray in need of contracts but if only Matz reups, look for the Jays to be willing to spend on a one-year deal, much like they did last season with Marcus Semien.
