Vlad Guerrero Jr. Joins A Number of Elite Clubs With Landmark Home Run

 

He came to the majors with a Hall of Fame name and a prospect cachet rarely ever seen before. Now Vlad Guerrero Jr. is living up to it all in so many ways. 

With his 40th home run on Monday in an 8-0 Toronto Blue Jays rout over the New York Yankees, the Vlad Guerreros (Sr. & Jr.) become only the second father-son team to reach that mark, joining only the Fielders (Cecil & Prince).


At just 22 years old, Vladdy Jr. has also reached a number of other special marks and lists associated with his young stature:
  • Youngest player in Blue Jays history to reach the 40 HR plateau
  • 9th player aged 22 or younger to reach the mark

With the historic homer, Vlad Jr. also extended his hitting streak to 14 games, and helped the Jays to their 5th straight win, a run in which they've averaged  8.4 runs per game.
