Rumor: Rockies and A's Talking All-Star Trade

The Oakland A's certainly should be buyers at the trade deadline. At this present moment, they are second place in the AL West with a 49-39 record. Yet, the Mariners and Angels are not too far behind them, so they need to make upgrades quickly. This is especially the case when it comes the shortstop position. Elvis Andrus is having a bad season, as he is batting only .234 and is just not what he used to be. To fix this issue, the best player for them to acquire is Trevor Story and it seems that the A's realize this.

Story would most likely be a pure rental, as he is an unrestricted free agent this off-season. However, when seeing how spectacular of a player he is, it would be worth it for the A's. Story is a two-time Silver Slugger Winner and All-Star. He also is a shortstop who is capable of hitting a lot of home runs, as evidenced by his career-high of 37. By adding him to the roster, the middle of the A's batting order would be lethal, as it would have him, Matt Olson and Matt Chapman.

It is important to note that Story is having a bit of down year, though. In 74 games this season, he has hit 11 home runs and is batting only .252. He normally hits between .280 and .290, so it is very likely that he will turn it around soon. With all the trade rumors surrounding him, it is understandable that is struggling a bit.

At the end of the day, trading for Story is the perfect move for the A's right now. They need a talented shortstop who is very effective at the plate. There is no option who fits these descriptions better than Story. Thus, there is a distinct possibility that Story will be rocking an A's jersey by the end of the month.
