MLB Rumors: 4 Teams In Trade Talks for Rockies' Brenton Doyle
The New York Mets, San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees are among the clubs that have checked in on Doyle, who remains one of the more intriguing glove first outfielders on the market.
Even after a down 2025 that saw his bat regress to a 65 wRC+ and his defensive metrics cool from elite to merely strong, Doyle’s mix of speed, defense and team control through 2029 keeps him firmly in trade talks.
Why contenders want a Brenton Doyle trade
At his peak in 2024, Brenton Doyle looked like the exact kind of modern center fielder contenders crave. He hit .260 with a .317 OBP and .446 slugging, popped 23 home runs, stole 30 bases and paired that with elite defense that earned him back to back Gold Gloves and a Fielding Bible Award.
Even in his rough 2025, he still finished with 15 homers, 18 steals and strong Outs Above Average numbers, while dealing with the emotional weight of a family tragedy off the field. For clubs like the Mets and Phillies, Doyle profiles as a stabilizing defender in center who can let a young outfielder, such as Justin Crawford, ease in at a corner spot.

Doyle posted a 65 wRC+ with 0.4 fWAR in 138 games for Colorado in 2025.#Yankees pic.twitter.com/TqJLcAD1q0
For the Yankees and Padres, he looks more like a high end fourth outfielder who can share time with left handed bats like Trent Grisham or cover for injuries to players such as Jackson Merrill.
Rockies’ dilemma as Brenton Doyle trade value peaks and dips
The Rockies’ new front office, led by Paul DePodesta and Josh Byrnes, is clearly open for business, and they are listening on young outfielders while searching for controllable starting pitching. Doyle is the obvious chip, projected to earn only around 3.2 million dollars as a Super Two in 2026 and still four years from free agency.
With a very thin free agent center field market behind Cody Bellinger and Harrison Bader, and multiple teams starved for a true center fielder, Colorado could cash in now for a strong prospect package or young arm.

The risk is clear though. If Doyle rebounds toward his 2024 form, he could be one of the prizes of the summer trade market. If his bat stalls again or he gets hurt, his value could dip further and the Rockies would have sold low in a season where wins are already scarce.
For now, they appear willing to listen, and contenders circling the center field market know that a Brenton Doyle trade might be one of the few realistic ways to upgrade the position without paying superstar money.
