Breaking: Shocking Names Missing As Blue Jays Unveil ALDS Roster
The Toronto Blue Jays have announced their roster for their American League Division Series showdown with the New York Yankees beginning Saturday, and it's surprising for the names that are NOT on it.
Three-time Cy Young Winner Max Scherzer is missing from the list, as is fellow starting pitcher Chris Bassitt.
No Max Scherzer or Chris Bassitt on pitching side of Blue Jays ALDS roster, as they opt instead for four lefties, including Mason Fluharty and Justin Bruihl.

Less surprising on the pitching side is that Jose Berrios is also left off the roster. His poor play of late and removal from the rotation in September make that move more expected.
Instead, the Jays have chosen load up on southpaws, going with four lefties to face the Yankees, adding Mason Fluharty and Justin Bruihl to the roster in addition to Brendon Little and swingman Eric Lauer.
On the offensive side, no one is batting an eye over the absence of Bo Bichette. The Jays' star shortstop hasn't played in a month as he's still recovering from a knee sprain. He's only been doing light workouts to this point, and as of the opening of the ALDS, has not even started running.
Could he return at some point if the Jays make a run further into the postseason?
“I’ll never put anything past Bo,” manager John Schneider said earlier this week. “...Keep going (on his rehab) to get him back, hopefully in the next round.”
“Every day has gotten better for him,” GM Ross Atkins said. “He’s doing everything possible to be ready as soon as possible.”
Also absent on the hitting side is backup first baseman Ty France.
