Despite undergoing arm surgery and being ineligible to pitch until 2025, Ohtani's offensive prowess is undeniable.

In 2023, he hit 44 home runs, drove in 95 RBIs, and maintained a 3.14 ERA with 167 strikeouts.

His value as a hitter is significant, especially for a Giants team that hasn't seen a player hit 30 home runs in a season since Barry Bonds in 2004.

On the other hand, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, at just 25 years old, is one of the most promising pitchers in baseball.

Playing in the Japan Pacific League, he has showcased remarkable skills, posting an ERA of 1.16 and a WHIP of 0.86.
