Baltimore Orioles Place Two Players On Waivers

The Baltimore Orioles made an announcement on Wednesday regarding their roster moves, designating catcher Anthony Bemboom and right-hander Chris Vallimont for assignment.

Bemboom, 33, has seen limited action this season with the Orioles, recording a 2-for-11 performance at the plate with two walks and two strikeouts.

While his major league career has been challenging, reflected in his career batting line of .161/.236/.260 over 216 plate appearances, Bemboom has shown more promise in Triple-A over the course of seven seasons, hitting .249/.342/.392.

The Orioles will have one week to decide whether to trade, release, or outright waive Bemboom.

As for Chris Vallimont, the 26-year-old right-handed pitcher recently made his MLB debut, pitching two-thirds of an inning without allowing any runs and recording a strikeout.

However, Vallimont has faced difficulties in the upper minors over the past couple of seasons, accumulating a combined 5.22 ERA in 129.1 innings at the Triple-A level.

Vallimont was previously designated for assignment by the Minnesota Twins, and the Orioles claimed him off waivers.

Since he has already been outrighted once, Vallimont has the option to reject any further outright assignments and choose free agency. The Orioles will need to make a decision to trade, waive, or release Vallimont within the designated week. Photo Credit: Reggie Hildred-USA TODAY Sports
