Arizona Diamondbacks Outright Catcher

Sent outright.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have sent catcher Ali Sanchez outright to Triple-A Reno.

Sanchez was designated for assignment on Dec. 23 and managed to pass through waivers unclaimed.

Sanchez was claimed three weeks ago from the Pittsburgh Pirates off waivers to compete for a backup catching job. However, now that the D-Backs have acquired top prospect Gabriel Moreno from the Toronto Blue Jays, they have no need for him.

The twenty-five-year-old spent the entire past season in the minor leagues, registering a .262/.354/.743 slash line, with six home runs, 33 RBIs, two stolen bases and 38 runs scored across 252 at-bats.

He'll give the D-Backs some extra catching depth heading into spring training.
