Tampa Bay Rays Part Ways With Outfielder

Kevin Kiermaier's $13 million option with the Tampa Bay Rays has been declined, so he is now a free agent.

This is not too surprising, as he struggled in 2022 and then had season-ending hip surgery. With the Rays being a small-market team, there was no way they would pay that much money for him to stick around. Now, the veteran outfielder will be aiming to bounce back in 2023 with a new team.

At a cheap price, Kiermaier could be a player worth taking a chance on. Keep in mind, his fielding is fantastic, as evidenced by his three Gold Glove Awards.

In 914 games over 10 seasons with the Rays, he hit 82 home runs and sported a .248 batting average.
